Love. Loyalty. Legacy.

The Great Dog Pack is a heartfelt story about family, loyalty, and the lessons that are passed from one generation to the next.

It begins with Buster, a big German Shepherd with an even bigger heart, who teaches a young puppy named Roxy what it means to be part of a pack—how to be loyal, patient, and kind.

As the years pass, new dogs join the family. Each one learns, grows, and carries those lessons forward in their own way.

At its core, this is a story about what gets passed on—how love, kindness, and wisdom don’t end, but continue through others.

The illustrations are created from real photographs, transformed into soft watercolor-style images that preserve the personality and spirit of each dog.

All proceeds from this book support the work of the Alex Lebovic Foundation, which promotes veterinary education, childhood cancer research, and animal welfare.

I just finished reading The Great Dog Pack by my longtime high school friend Mitch Lebovic, and I was deeply moved from beginning to end. This is far more than a book about dogs…it’s a heartfelt story about love, family, loyalty, grief, healing, and the incredible bonds we share with the animals who walk beside us through life.

The book follows Mitch’s beloved pack through the years, beginning with Buster, the German Shepherd, and beautifully weaving together the personalities, quirks, lessons, and unforgettable memories of each dog that became part of the family. Every chapter carries emotion and authenticity. I found myself smiling, laughing, and at times crying both happy and sad tears as the stories unfolded.

What makes this book especially powerful is the love and dedication behind it. The book honors Mitch’s daughter Alex, who tragically passed away from cancer at only 23 years old while studying to become a veterinarian. Alex shared her father’s deep love for dogs, especially German Shepherds, and you can feel her spirit throughout these pages…in the compassion, tenderness, and reverence for animals woven into every story.

Some moments are joyful and heartwarming, while others are heartbreaking, including the loss of beloved companions through old age and the sudden passing of Kal-El at only six years old. But each story carries meaning, reminding us how every dog enters our lives with something unique to teach us…about loyalty, resilience, unconditional love, and even letting go.

Mitch is truly a gifted storyteller. His writing feels personal, genuine, and deeply human. Combined with the beautiful illustrations and photographs, The Great Dog Pack becomes an emotional journey that any dog lover will connect with immediately.

What touched me even more is knowing that all proceeds from this beautiful book go to The Alex Lebovic Foundation in Alex’s honor, supporting veterinary education, childhood cancer research, and animal welfare. That makes this project not only a loving tribute to Alex and the dogs who shaped their family, but also a way to continue making a difference in the lives of others.

This book touched my heart in a profound way, and I know it will touch many others as well. It is a beautiful tribute to Alex’s memory, to the unconditional love of dogs, and to the lasting impact they leave on our hearts forever.

This book reads as if Mitch was in the room with you telling the story. It is a true reflection of all the stories and thoughts he has shared over the years. I will look forward to sharing with my grandkids.

Thank you, Christi! My granddaughter was the impetus for writing this. Being a grandparent is pretty cool.
